For the 2012 vintage of Banshee Sauvignon Blanc, we looked to vineyards in the Russian River and Dry Creek Valleys, to craft a luscious, brisk, and eminently friendly wine. We selected from vines ranging from 8-30 years old and a variety of clonal selections. As in years past, we have included a healthy portion of the Sauvignon Musqué clone (35%) which imbues the wine with a noticeable aromatic signature. With part sweet floral and part baby pea and mint aromas, this is one Sauvignon Blanc you wont mind sticking your nose into. Vinification and elevage was done primarily in stainless steel, but also includes a portion that was fermented and aged neutral barrels (30%). This mixture gives the wine great texture and mid-palate while retaining the brisk acid structure that frames it all. Tasting NotesMelon and prosciutto keep popping into mind while thinking about this Sauvignon Blanc, although were certain it would pair well with a variety of fresh summer foods, fish, pork, and chicken.
